19B PROJECTS — FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

🛠 FOR CAST & CREW

What kind of films does 19B PROJECTS make?

We make uncomfortable, dialogue-heavy, character-driven Black cinema rooted in surrealism, horror, genreless, and emotional violence. Our films aren't meant to entertain passively—they're meant to live inside you. Think: long monologues, fucked-up love, strange power dynamics, cringe inducing comedy, and Blackness with no apology and no explanation.

Will I get a typical script or sides?

You will get sides first. Scripts if we are looking to offer you the role. Our scripts are heavy on dialogue, often written like stage plays inside film worlds. We look to provide brave actors with the content to bring the most out of them and get the most out of their talent. If you're crew, that means we prioritize performance, intimacy, and mood over spectacle. Every project may look different, but they all feel like 19B.

Do these films go to festivals?

No.
We don't submit to festivals, streaming platforms, or production companies. We don't attend festivals. 19B PROJECTS is a self-contained ecosystem. We distribute through private theater buyouts, college screenings, physical mediums, and build cult-like word of mouth. If you're working on a 19B film, you're helping create something outside the system.

How do I get cast in a 19B PROJECTS film?

We cast based on energy, presence, and authenticity. Formal resumes help, but what matters most is:
  • Are you brave?
  • Can you command the screen in long dialogue scenes?
  • Can you live inside a character who doesn't have all the answers?
  • Are you down to build something outside the mainstream?
If that's you, submit a reel, self-tape, or reach out directly via our casting channels.

Are these roles safe, or will I be asked to do extreme scenes?

We deal in dark, sometimes disturbing material—sex work, violence, mental illness, abuse, rage, grief. But we approach everything with intention and care. We work with a closed set mentality, respect boundaries, and encourage open conversation around consent and limits. We don't exploit actors—we put them in the spotlight they've always deserved. But we make real films and movies that reflect real people and real experiences.
🎬 FOR VIEWERS

Where can I watch a 19B PROJECTS film?

Not on Netflix. Not on Hulu.
You'll find our work in private screenings, pop-up theater events, college campus tours, and through direct access drops. If you know, you know. If you don't—watch the shadows, the streets talk.

Why don't you use film festivals or streaming?

Because the system exploits the filmmaker and dilutes the work. We are not in this for the awards. Art is by design made to be absorbed in a non, 1st, 2nd, 3rd sort of way. We don't need validation from institutions that never prioritized our stories in the first place. We're building a new model—self-contained, independent, and rooted in Black creative autonomy. We do this for the movie lovers not the gate keepers. The power is with the people. Get it to the people.

What should I expect from a 19B film?

  • Blackness with no soft edges, but done in a way you don't notice that black people are centered. Just people living their lives.
  • Long, layered dialogue that doesn't cut to the next explosion
  • Characters you love, fear, and don't fully understand
  • Real, relatable, and could not be me themes
  • No closure. No comfort. No compromise.
Just worlds that will bother you, live in your head, and crawl into your gut.

How can I support 19B PROJECTS?

  • Show up to our private screenings
  • Share the work, talk about it, build the cult
  • Buy merch when it drops
  • Bring us to your school, your city, your people
  • Respect the art enough to sit with what it makes you feel
